Expositon:
Winnie Foster has everything a young woman could desire. She comes from a wealthy and respected family. She dresses in the finest clothes and is afforded every opportunity to refine herself. Winnie is told not to leave the yard. She longs for freedom, for adventure. She escapes one morning to explore the woods surrounding her family's home, and encounters Jesse Tuck, whom she falls in love with immediately. Jesse urges Winnie not to drink from the spring.

Rising Action:
Upon learning of Winnie's Knowledge of the spring, the Tuck's kidnap Winnie to protect the secret of the spring.
Winnie falls in love with one of the Tucks, Jesse, a 17-year-old boy who shares the same feelings for her. Scared of death, Winnie must choose between being immortal and being with Jesse or following the circle of life and dying someday. The Tucks try to teach her how she shouldn't fear death, how they would give anything to die. It teaches the importance and understanding of life and death.It shows that you should not fear death, but to fear an unlived life. All of the Tucks Love and care for Winnie, and she, them.

Meanwhile, the man in the yellow suit learns of Winnie's kidnapping and sets out to look for her and the spring so he could exploit it for his personal gain and do whatever it takes to obtain it.
Climax:
Mae is arrested for killing the man in the yellow suit. Winnie decides to help Mae escape from jail no matter what the consequences, because she knew to was the right thing for Mae and mankind.

Falling action:
Before returning home, Jesse gives Winnie a bottle of water from the spring and tells her drink it when she turns 17, that he would return for her, and they would see the world together.
Once home, Winnie pour the contents of the water bottle onto a toad so it may live forever. She figured if she changed her mind about becoming immortal she could always find the spring again.
Jesse returns to Treegap much later and finds Winnie's grave.
